Green

The midday sun beats down through the clouds over these hills
Wandering and wondering, remembering dreams I saw killed
I hear the sound of marching as I gird myself for war
Waiting for the moment when we learn what is in store
Waiting for the moment when we keep the oaths we swore

I have learned my history
And I know who I am
I will walk the path of ice
With a Stags Horn in each hand

I have walked in fields fallow that in times gone were green
I have danced upon a shore that no man else has seen
I once had a sword but I left it high upon the tor
To put a smile on the lips of the one that I fight for
And when the moment comes, I will keep the oaths I swore

I have learned my history
And I know who I am
I will walk the path of ice
With a Stags Horn in each hand

And as the ravens fly onward
And the fire sweeps the land
I’ll charge into the fray
With a stag horn in each hand

City of Fallen Angels

Load a clip and the machine gun sprays
The survivors walk around in a daze
It’s a kick if you can just survive
Another day, another blood red sunrise

Greasy streets and grease paint smiles
If you go out, then you go on trial
It’s a crime to breathe and a crime to scream
Another vision of the death of the American dream

The city never lies
The city never dies
The city never rests
So get undressed
And fallen angel, fly

We don’t need warmongers to start a war
We fight for turf and we fight for whores
Catatonic and gin in the city of sin
Where everybody wonders what might have been

The city never lies
The city never dies
The city never rests
So get undressed
And fallen angel, fly
Fallen angel fly

So pass the ale and pass the ammo
Drink your toast and paint on camo
I remember the look in my lover’s eyes
When the angels claimed her and my heart died

The city never lies
The city never dies
The city never rests
So get undressed
We ride to the top of Angeles Crest
And fly
Fallen angel fly

The Ghost of Johnny Cash

The storm approaches, blocking out the western sky
The road is slick with oil, the scent of gasoline
I’ve dreamed of finding home someday before I died
I’ve come along way and I won’t lay down that dream

And in this Arizona desert where the Joshua trees grow
I’ll ride alone when there’s nowhere left to go
Dressed in black, a memory of the past
I’ll ride into the sunset with the ghost of Johnny Cash

The lightning crashes, and I feel the thunder near
I’ve done more in my life than most men think they could
And when my time comes, let this be the last words I hear
I saw these days, I did these things, I lived this life and it was good

And in this Arizona desert where the Joshua trees grow
I’ll ride alone when there’s nowhere left to go
Dressed in black, a memory of the past
I’ll ride into the sunset with the ghost of Johnny Cash

I sang “Yippee kay-yeah” when we all were young and free
I’ll sing “Yippe kay-yoh” when the ravens come for me
And when it’s our turn to ride the range up in the sky
Dress my soul in black for my spirit will never die

And in this Arizona desert where the Joshua trees grow
I’ll ride alone when there’s nowhere left to go
Dressed in black, a memory of the past
I’ll ride into the sunset with the ghost of Johnny Cash

Cold (Love Song #5)

The sound of your voice still lingers
The way you ran your fingers
Through my long, dark hair
Every memory a treasure
Wrap myself in leather
And pretend that I don’t care

Take me home
To the frozen wastes
To the Northern lands
And let me lie alone

All the times I missed you
All the times I kissed you
On your ruby lips
All the dreams that we shared
All the plans we prepared
Slipping through my grip

Take me home
To the frozen wastes
To the Northern lands
And let me lie alone

And let me head into the North
I won’t feel the cold
Freeze the blood inside my veins
I won’t fear the cold
I won’t fear the cold
I won’t fear the cold

Take me home
To the frozen wastes
To the Northern lands
And let me die alone

Hookers and Blow

I picked up the phone- it was Chris on the line
He said “Saddle up- we’ll have a good time.
We’ll cross the border, find some hookers and blow
The answer is yes, don’t you dare tell me no!”
So we grabbed Boyd and Duke, and we hit the road
Grit in our teeth, our pockets full of gold
We crossed the border, found a den of sin
Twas the finest place I’d ever been in

Singing lie la lie lie la lie lie la lie lie….

Chris found a redhead, Boyd and Duke each founds blondes
I found a brunette, she had no clothes on
They charged for the loving, the cocaine was free
They filled our glasses with cheap shit whiskey
And when the sun set, we’d had out fill
Out came the stars, and wolves for the kill
They drew their pistols, and knives from the boot
They said “Stand and deliver, your horses and loot”

Singing lie la lie lie la lie lie la lie lie….

The fighting was brutal, but it was done fast
We pulled our pocket knives and McGuyvered their ass
We kissed the girls goodbye, road into the sunset
With memories of good times we'll never forget
And I bet you're wondering if this story is true
I lied about the cocaine, the rest is up to you

Singing lie la lie lie la lie lie la lie lie….

Gasoline

We were standing in the back of that dingy hall
You had your glass of stout and I had my water
Battleship grey was the paint on the walls
And I felt like a lamb eager for the slaughter

It had been a long week and the nights were getting longer
I tried to cry myself to sleep but only stayed awake
I tried to pull myself together but my despair was stronger
And I wondered if anyone would mourn me at my wake

Somedays you build your bridges
And other days you let them burn
Sometimes you pour the gasoline and stand there waiting

I tried to call her up so I could say I’m sorry
She didn’t answer so I just left a message
I stood there quietly, underneath a sky so starry
Wishing that I had the courage to turn a brand new page

I should never have gone to that cursed party
I meant what I said but I should never have said it
I should have kept my mouth shut but I got so angry
You were just too damn polite to try and make me quit

Somedays you build your bridges
And other days you let them burn
Sometimes you pour the gasoline and stand there waiting
Somedays you get the answer
Sometimes you never learn
Sometimes you strike the match and stand there waiting

And I went home that night to slit my wrists
But you were there and you’d been waiting
I told you I was done and I knew I’d not be missed
I couldn’t bring myself to do it when you started crying

The love I feel for you makes me afraid of dying

Somedays you build your bridges
And other days you let them burn
Sometimes you pour the gasoline and stand there waiting
Somedays you get the answer
Sometimes you never learn
Sometimes you strike the match and stand there waiting
Sometimes you find forgiveness
Sometimes you show no mercy
Sometimes the dead speak louder than the living
Sometimes it’s black and white
Sometimes the lines are grey
For now I’ll take my chances among the living

All Souls

I’ve lived a long life and seen much of Fate
I’ve seen much of love and too much of hate
I’ve sailed the oceans and climbed mountains tall
Loved many women and loved Nature’s Call

Drink to the dead who died blade in hand
Drink to all souls buried in the land
Drink to the men who died to be free
Drink to the life left for you and for me

I’ve fought the good fight and never gave up
I drank of life’s ale and drained every cup
I’ve seen men die and seen dreams crashing down
I’ve seen kings rise and then lose their crown

Drink to the dead who died blade in hand
Drink to all souls buried in the land
Drink to the men who died to be free
Drink to the life left for you and for me

I know a secret that is known by none
I’ve seen strange creatures dance beneath the sun
I am not rich but I was never poor
In spirit I’ve treasure, in heart I am pure

Drink to the dead who died blade in hand
Drink to all souls buried in the land
Drink to the men who died to be free
Drink to the life left for you and for me

When Death comes to claim me to Valhalla I’ll fare
The line of my ancestors shall greet me there
The Valkyries calling, in battle I’ll fall
To rise once more inside that shining hall

Drink to the dead who died blade in hand
Drink to all souls buried in the land
Drink to the men who died to be free
Drink to the life left for you and for me

Crossroads

And so I’ve come to the crossroads
Time to stop, lay down my load,
And think about what to take with me
I don’t know what fate will bring
Or what songs I’ve yet to sing
But I know you won’t be with me

So light the fire, watch it burn
All those lessons we never learned
And please know that this ain’t gentle on my mind
No matter what you tell yourself
Justify your mental health
And try to ignore the blatant warning signs
Lay the ghosts to rest at last
And fill the arvels final glass
You’ll go your way and I’ll go mine
In the end I think it’s best
That I lay your ghost to rest
In the end you’re just another bitch to leave behind

The wind is blowing from the east
As my memories of you cease
And I close the book on your last page
And I don’t think it was worthwhile
When I sat and watched you smile
Knowing it was just another mask on your stage

So light the fire, watch it burn
All those lessons we never learned
And please know that this ain’t gentle on my mind
No matter what you tell yourself
Justify your mental health
And try to ignore the blatant warning signs
Lay the ghosts to rest at last
And fill the arvels final glass
You’ll go your way and I’ll go mine
In the end I think it’s best
That I lay your ghost to rest
In the end you’re just another bitch to leave behind

And I wish that I could say I wished you well
And I wish that I could make you understand
Why I am the way I am
But there’s nothing left inside that pretty shell

Karma

Riding down the road I found a dead man by the cemetery gates
He told me he couldn’t rest as his heart was too full of hate
He lived a thousand years to find a meaning to his life
Killed a thousand men, and now he wanders nightly, pays the price

And the years go by and nothing changes
Everything written in unread pages
Ancient runes and holy lies
Until fire bleeds down from the sky

I bought the dead man a beer and we drank till the sun came up
We shot the shit till it was gone and in the end didn’t give a fuck
I never asked for mercy in my life and neither do the slain
Just a chance to fight and not to die in iron chains

But that dead man had no answers for me
So I told him I’d just fly free
Every day for the rest of my years
As I rode away, this was all I could hear

You’re all a bunch of slaves was what he says and that’s how it stays
Me, I like the drama, but I’m too busy fucking a bitch named Karma
You’re all a bunch of slaves and that’s how it stays till your dying days
Me, I like the drama, but I’m too busy fucking a bitch named Karma

So I went on down the road to another bar and I stopped to wait
Sure enough I found another dead man just outside the gate
He told me he couldn’t rest because his heart was too full of fear
We went inside the bar and washed it all away with beer

He said he was born again that holy night
We drank and found salvation in drunken sights
The barkeeps breasts and sweet apple pie
But that was not enough to let the dead lie

You’re all a bunch of slaves was what he says and that’s how it stays
Me, I like the drama, but I’m too busy fucking a bitch named Karma
You’re all a bunch of slaves and that’s how it stays till your dying days
Me, I like the drama, but I’m too busy fucking a bitch named Karma
